9 conclusion Successful System Regulatory Considerations Economics Safety & Environmental Issues The basic concept of compressed air energy storage has existed for decades, and has been commercially available for over 30 years. It never caught on much and became mainstream. However, as the need for energy storage grew greater, CAES became more attractive, especially with the advancements in technology discussed earlier. Review of CAPS shows that pipeline system is a viable alternative for storing and transporting wind energy.
