Teacher Notes: Have the students write down their own ideas first then allow them to Think- Pair- Share (There is a short description on bacteria in the student note page).
The goal is to get students to come up with the 7 characteristics of life (which may need some probing questions as shown in the next slid).
Once the students have come up with a few characteristics.... Show them the list and make sure that they understand what each characteristic means
Finally... Students will be analyzing if a virus and camel are living based on the 7 characteristics of life. ( A small description of viruses is included.)

Do they look the same from the beginning of their lives to the end? Or do they have stages in their lives?
Is equilibrium important?
What are they made up of?
What makes a bacterium a bacterium and a whale a whale?
