2. Breaking Rocks We used hammers to break open rocks.
We wore safety goggles
Breaking the rocks open was hard.
We got to keep three pieces of broken rock.

3. Sifting Soil We used sifters to sift soil.
The soil was sifted into four layers:
Gravel
Coarse Sand
Fine Sand
Silt and Clay

4. Being a Paleontologist
We wore lab coats and explored rocks and fossils.
We saw a fossilized whale bone!

5. Digging for Fossils
We used sifters to dig for fossils in a giant sandbox.
We found shark teeth!
We got to keep our favorite three fossils

6. Hiking We went on a hike in O’Neill Park.
The riverbed was empty because of the drought.
We saw Saddleback Mountain in the distance.
We searched for rocks and identified them
