Session aims To know/describe and explain the refereeing and officiating rules for laws 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 To demonstrate refereeing and officiating laws 5, 6, 7 and 8

Task 1 – Complete the worksheet on laws 1 to 4
An official futsal pitch is made from wood or artificial material. The rules of Futsal derive from 5 sports. The 5 sports ; Futsal, Hockey, , , The length of the court is between and The width of the court is between and The futsal ball is a size After the 1st bounce the ball should bounce to a height of approximately Futsal comprises of players on the court per team, and each team is allowed a maximum of players. Law 5 The referee They enforce the laws of the game and apply the advantage rule where appropriate Record of all incidents before, during and after game Stop game when deemed necessary Caution or expel players guilty of misconduct, violent conduct or ungentlemanly behavior Allow no others to enter the pitch Stop game to have injured players removed, signal for game to be restarted after every stoppage, decide that the ball meets with the stipulated requirements Power Unique to Main Referee: Can overrule Assistant Referee's calls

Law 6 Assistant referee Similar to those of the main official
Check the 2 minute punishment period after a player has been sent off Ensure substitutions are carried out properly, and keeping a check on the 1 minute time out; Maintain their position on the side of the player’s bench.

Law 7 Time keeper and 3rd official
Start the game at kick off Stop the clock when the ball is out of play Keep check on the time out periods for sending offs Indicate end of first and second half for the referee Record time outs and fouls Record game stoppages, scorers and players cautioned and sent off Position themselves next to the substitution area

Law 8 Game duration There are 2 equal periods of 20 minutes
Clock stops when the ball is out of play Time can be prolonged for a penalty kick There is 1 time out per half for each team Half time has a duration of 15 minutes

Law 9 Start of play A coin is tossed prior to kick off to determine what side kicks off first The opposing team must wait outside the centre circle Ball deemed in play once it has been touched The ball must be kicked forward on the kick off

Ball out of play when it has wholly crossed the goal line or touchline If the ball has been stopped by the referee When the ball hits the ceiling (restart: kick-in at the place closest to where the ball touched the ceiling) Lines Touchlines and goal lines are considered inside the playing area

A goal is scored when the whole of the ball passes over the goal line, between the goalposts and under the crossbar Winning Team The team scoring the greater number of goals during a game is the winner. If both teams score an equal number of goals or of no goals are scored, the game is drawn.
