1
Cellular Respiration (Aerobic)
2
What is Cellular Respiration?
A chemical process that releases energy from food molecules
3
Where does Cellular Respiration take place?
In the mitochondria of cells
4
When does Cellular Respiration Occur?
Only in the presence of oxygen (aerobic)
5
How does Cellular Respiration Happen?
C6H12O O > 6CO H2O ATP 1 glucose molecule + 6 oxygen = 6 water molecules + 6 carbon dioxide molecules ATP molecules
6
Why does Cellular Respiration Occur?
Very efficient; provides lots of energy - you get ATP’s from each molecule of glucose Drawback: not very fast; complicated process - takes longer than fermentation
7
The End
