What is aerobic respiration?
Respiration is the process which releases the chemical energy in food Glucose is the main energy source used by cells Other foods (e.g. fat or protein) can also be broken down and used by cells

Food is required as an energy source Oxygen is needed for aerobic respiration. - food releases much more energy if oxygen is also available

What are the products of aerobic respiration?
Carbon dioxide and water are produced The carbon dioxide is transported to the lungs - to be breathed out The water is either kept inside, or released by the cell

Aerobic respiration occurs in structures called mitochondria
