From the Commander…

Greetings families and friends of Weapons Training Battalion,
I would first like to convey my heartfelt appreciation to you and your families as you have done amazing work supporting the Marines and Sailors of our battalion. As we prepare for the command’s summer transition, we will be hosting several events to bring the “family” together in order to celebrate our numerous successes and the recognizable positive impacts made by current and past members of the battalion.
The professionalism and high standards of performance that your Marines and Sailors demonstrate continue to astound. As the commander, I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the process that contributes to the excellent work your service members are doing in support of the Camp Lejeune area. We certainly hit the ground running after the holiday observations and extended liberty periods. Without the high level of proficiency and enthusiasm for our mission, the ability to quickly get back to supporting the area commands would have been even more challenging. The battalion’s efforts have not gone unnoticed; commendations and high praise have been mentioned on various platforms.
Continuing to build on the culture within the battalion, we had an NCO Day wherein our NCOs assumed the leadership roles of the Officers and Staff Non-Commissioned Officers, we conducted another Personal Weapons Shoot, and conducted our first pistol course utilizing competition pistols.
Looking into the next quarter, there are a couple of key events I would like to cordially invite you all to attend. In April, we will host another Personal Weapons Shoot so please join us. Our outstanding Family Readiness Officers, SSgt Courts and Christy Sigler, will do their best to keep you informed of upcoming battalion events but please do not hesitate to query your service member.
In closing, I wish all of the families and friends of the battalion happiness, prosperity, and success. Your sacrifices and contributions are greatly appreciated.

WTBN Competition Season Opening
Mileage: Beginning on Monday, 2 April WTBN personnel will have the opportunity to compete in two classes: running and walking. A cash prize of $50 will be awarded to the winners of each class, to be announced at the Warrior Night at the end of May.
Reading: Sunday, 1 April is the official kick off to the reading competition event. Marines wishing to participate will be required to read books from the Commandants Reading List that are appropriate to their grade. Additional points can be obtained by writing a short essay or creating a small PME PowerPoint. A cash prize of $50 will be awarded to the winner, to be announced at the Warrior Night at the end of May.
Pull Up Challenge: This competition began at the beginning of PFT season and is ongoing. Currently, Cpl Brown of the S1 is in the lead once again for most cumulative pullups, but there is still plenty of time to catch up and claim the victory. The winner will receive $50 and will be announced during Warrior Night at the end of May.
