Father and mother : Oceanus god of sea Tethys goddess of primal nourishment Husband : Pallas god of battle and warfare Sons : Cratos god of strength Zelus god of rivalry Daughters : Bia goddess of raw power Nike goddess of victory Siblings : Acheron was the river of lamentation. Cocytus was the river of woe. Lethe was the river of forgetfulness. Phlegethon was the river of fire.

3. Origins of the goddess
Styx was believed to be a titan goddess in the “Golden age” of titans. In this era she was the goddess of hatred. She also in this age was considered extremely powerful because of the “emotion” she ruled over. Another thing to consider is she was also one of the Oceanid sisters meaning she had 5,999 siblings because her parents reproduction rate. This also means the other 4 rivers in the underworld are siblings,

4. Titanomocky
During the titanomocky the goddess Styx did not side with titans however the Olympians unlike her father who did not side at all. The myths however do no go over any crucial role she played in any specific battle. To honor her, Zeus gave her name to the binding oath that was taken by the gods. This also would help her children from being imprisoned in Tartarus.

5. Properties of the river of Styx
Again for fighting with Zeus in the titanomochy she was granted various properties. The first an most famous property of the river is its invulnerability factor. When a mortal is dipped into the river but not fully submerged they become invulnerable in ever other area they were not dipped into. However when fully submerged into the river as a mortal your soul is permanently lost and damned for eternity. Another property of this river is when you make a promise on this river you must fulfill it otherwise you will be eternally damned as well. NOTE these were all properties given after the defeat of Cronus

6. Explanation / Worldly purpose
The River was a river in Greek mythology which formed the boundary between Earth and the Underworld. It circles the Underworld nine times. The rivers Styx, Phlegethon, Acheron and Cocytus all converge at the center of the underworld on a great marsh. Another key purpose in mythology Is that it was necessary to cross this river with Charon when you died to ensure a happy afterlife. ( Charon is the ferryman in the underworld who transports all spirits.)

7. Famous Hero's associated with the river
When Achilles was born, his mother wanted to make him immortal and thus, dipped him in the river Styx. However, she did not realize that his heel, by which she held him, was not touched by the waters, and so that was the only part of his body that remained mortal. You could also loosely associate Orpheus with the Styx because one part of getting into the underworld was crossing it and speaking with Charon before being able to free ( almost ) his wife
