To increase understanding of the dual credit and types of classes offered in Waco ISD, the process for choosing and enrolling in these classes, the opportunities offered by the ACCELERATE program, and the ways in which they can benefit WISD students.

23. Things to know… Students can change pathways during first two years
Students will all be enrolled in PreAP core classes as part of the program
Students will be enrolled in at least 1 Advanced Placement course but have options to enroll in more as well
Students can participate in extra-curricular activities and co-curricular activities that do not conflict with required courses
You can change pathways, if your interests change, but this will be most easily done during the first two years of the ACCELERATE program.
If you are in ACCELERATE, you will automatically be placed in PreAP (college preparation) sections of your core courses, since you will already be a college student.
You will still have the option of participating in Advanced Placement courses during your freshman and sophomore years as well as choosing them as electives during your junior and senior years. This program does not force you to choose between dual credit and AP; the two programs can work together.
While participation in some co-curricular activities will be limited because of your ACCELERATE course schedule, students are still eligible to participate in extra-curricular activities and clubs as well as activities/clubs at McLennan Community College.

ACCELERATE Applications for current 8th graders post on wacoisd.org next week and are due January 27
Dual Credit enrollment paperwork for current high school students is due to the campus dual credit advisor by the end of February to enroll for summer and fall
High school students may enroll in summer courses
Ninth grade students interested in ACCELERATE may apply if they agree to take 2 summer courses to catch up on their chosen pathway
ACCELERATE four-year plans are available on the Advanced Academics website at wacoisd.org
