William Henry Harrison and The Log Cabin Campaign
Unlike the election in 1836, the Whigs united behind a single candidate in 1840 – William Henry Harrison The Whigs utilized the tactics of the Democrats in their bid for the presidency Touted Harrison as a man of humble origins Utilized campaign “branding” of Harrison – the “log cabin” “Tippecanoe and Tyler too!” Whigs also utilized new strategies by mobilizing women in their campaign, linked traditional women’s virtues and Harrison’s traditional values.
