Government controlled by ordinary citizens Favorable to farmers, artisans, and skilled workers State bank Free trade Strong ties with France, but not with Britain Supporter: Patrick Henry, George Mason, Richard Henry Lee Bill of Rights was needed to protect individual liberties Reason: Avoid abuses suffered under British rule
