4 Summary of 2.A The institution operates with integrity in its financial, academic, personnel, and auxiliary functions; it establishes and follows policies and processes for fair and ethical behavior on the part of its governing board, administration, faculty and staff. The university of Cincinnati is serious in its focus on integrity for all university functions. The university as a whole Faculty Research Students Staff The university values integrity, honesty and fairness and strives to integrate these values into its teaching, research, service and business practices

The University: State of Ohio Public Institution Governed by the rules of the Ohio Department of Education, Ohio Ethics Commission and UC’s Board of Trustees Faculty: Represented by American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Rules and policies conform to the AAUP/UC Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Shared Governance: departmental, unit, university level Research: the university is committed to producing ethical and relevant research. Institutional Review Board (IRB) – reviews all research protocols that include human subjects Conflict of Interest Committee (COIC) – reviews individual conflicts of interest in research to protect the integrity of the researcher, institution, and the research enterprise Students: Student Code of Conduct and Fair Grading

6 Summary of 2.B The institution presents itself clearly and completely to its students and to the public with regard to its programs, requirements, faculty and staff, costs to students, control and accreditation relationships. UC presents itself clearly via: Home page of the uc.edu website UC Directory and events calendar Admissions webpage One-Stop Division of Student Affairs Accreditation web pages

8 Summary of 2.C The governing board of the institution is sufficiently autonomous to make decisions in the best interest of the institution and to assure its integrity. UC’s governing board: Deliberations reflect priorities to preserve and enhance the institution Considers the interest of the institution’s internal and external constituents during decision making Preserves its independence from undue influence Delegates day-to-day management to the administration and expects faculty to oversee academic matters

11 member Board of Trustees appointed by the Governor of Ohio 9 voting and 2 non-voting student members Representatives from constituent groups – faculty, alumni, and the foundation Meet 6 times per year- agendas and meeting minutes are posted on the website Responsible for appointing the president, setting the operating budget, granting all degrees awarded, establish tuition rates and fees. Comprised of 7 committees: Academic and Student Affairs, Health Affairs, Finance and Administration, Audit and Risk Management, Governance and Internal Affairs, Government Relations, and Investment. University utilizes a shared governance model to ensure multiple well- established governance committees are able to provide input. Members of the Board follow the University Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy Day-to-day operations are deemed the responsibility of university administrators

Faculty: UC provides an atmosphere of free expression of academic ideas as set forth in the collective bargaining agreement Students: UC supports student’s exercise of their right of free speech on campus through robust policies regarding student rights and expected conduct Staff, Campus and Community: Ensure freedom of expression, even when controversial Bias Incident Response Team Human Relations Committee Website dedicated to free speech (FAQ, Law, links) Policies and procedures in place to provide guidance for various kinds of speech
