Activity Management is used to provide an Operational view of the organizations, whereas General Ledger is used to provide a Financial view. You can define multiple unique structures to track various types of data. Activities has its own separate modules for Budgeting and Allocations. Talk about different ways of using AC module such as: Alternate P&L roll up Construction/Work in Process Direct Store Inventory Marketing Billing & Revenue How might they want to use AC? If you find you are adding too many accts to GL to track short or long term projects…certain indication that AC should be used

3 Terminology Activity Management Activity Group Activity
Account Category General Ledger Company Accounting Unit Account Relate the two structures

4 Integration – Big Picture
Is everyone familiar with Attribute Matrix? What applications are people using? Note you can bring in legacy EX) Drug Company – Using AC to track point of sale / ie customer accounts….enable us to base allocations on such data

5 General Ledger Integration
General Ledger can be used to control what is posted to AC Accounts can be flagged whether to require Activity information or not. Account Categories can be defaulted from the Chart. Entries can be initiated in GL Journal Entries/Recurring Journal Entries Allocations Entries can be initiated in AC AC Journal Entries Capitalization Entries Note that the AC module can further limit the transactions coming in based upon Company, Accounting Unit and Account combinations. Give examples. The same closing control exists on the System code

6 Accounts Payable Activity information can be attached to invoice lines for interfacing. Invoice amounts are interfaced to AC using AP175 Vendors can be tied to Activities for control purposes (Approved Vendors) AP can be used in conjunction with AC to capitalize assets in Asset Management

7 Asset Management Activity Management can accumulate costs and transfer them to Asset Management for capitalization Asset repair costs can be interfaced from AC to AM Asset Management can send depreciation calculation results to AC for costing purposes

8 Payroll Payroll interfaces amounts and hours to Activity Management
