2) Based on his walks, what words would describe an ethical theory created by such a person? The Tesco Dilemma Agenda:- To further explore the Kantian approach to ethics and everything To begin to understanding the foundation to his moral philosophy

2 Kantian principles Kant’s theory is based on a few things (foundation blocks); reason (practical), freedom and duty. Socratic Dialogue – group discussion, consider following questions 1 – Is rationality a good foundation for an ethical theory? 2 – Are we free to decide what is right and wrong?? 3 – Do we have a duty to do anything? If so, where does that duty come from? Discuss some possible duties

3 Kantian principles applied
What would Kant think about making a moral decision based on love and sympathy? Do you think that a moral/ethical theory should be devoid of these? What would Kant think of a starving woman stealing a loaf of bread to feed herself and her starving children? So, what IS his position?

4 Categorical imperative
Kant thinks that you have a duty to decide, using pure practical reason, which moral principles (maxims) should be the basis on universal moral law. So, how should we act according to Kant? What would Kant do and why?

5 Categorical imperative
"Act so that the maxim [determining motive of the will] may be capable of becoming a universal law for all rational beings.“ Consider the Tesco example
