1 Sponsoring a Club Stephanie Kohler

2 Reasons to Start Main: Passionate students approach a teacher and ask them to sponsor Second: The school may want a certain club started, so they may approach you

3 Gaining & keeping members
The biggest downfall is keeping members Kids need to be passionate, especially officers Last minute cancellations are a big thing Transportation can be a problem With cancellations these kids are in high school, so they rely on others to drive them. Transportation is a problem again because the kids are in HS, some of them don’t drive.

4 Club Meetings Once a week clubs work best Email reminders
Officers need to meet just as often, if not more STUDENT RUN Student run is the biggest thing. Even though they have a sponsor, it doesn’t mean they always have input. The students decide when things happen and so forth, and the teacher is more of an advisor who can have input when asked.

5 Comprehensive v. Magnet Schools
Comprehensive schools will have basic clubs, with a few exceptions Magnet schools tend to have a larger variety of clubs Comprehensive is a normal type of HS while magnet is focused in something. No offense, but magnet school kids tend to want to be there unlike comprehensive school kids.
