1 SENSATION AND PERCEPTION
Method – 1 - Slide will go up on the screen. 2 - In your groups make sure students silently consider what they are seeing. 3 – Calmly, after about 30 seconds they can share what they saw. Make sure they are speaking one at a time! 4 - Ask them what prior knowledge or experience might have helped them come to their conclusions. Good job!!!!

2 What is Sensation? Sensation is the process that activates our sense receptors and enables them to transmit signals to the brain. What are our senses? Sight Hearing Smell Touch Taste

3 What is Perception? Perception is the process that allows us to select, organize and interpret sensory signals from the brain. The brain organizes and makes sense of the information.

Your preconceptions, assumptions, bias, perceptions, opinions, beliefs/values all shape how you see the world It’s important to examine and reflect on your way of knowing the world so you can be as aware as possible of your potential biases/viewpoint You can still have an opinion, of course, but it is important to know where your opinion is coming from
