Danielle Trujillo Introduction Facts we should know Job Description Pros to teaching Before we can care about something and appreciate it, and before we can know if it is something we are interested in we have to know about it. So, what are some things we should know about any job? Well, we should know: (Click) basic facts (Click) the basic job description (Click) and reasons why that job would be enjoyable and fulfilling

According to Robert Heinlein, a prolific science fiction writer, we should care because “A generation which ignores history has no past and no future.” So, how can those of us who care about history, help others to as well?

But, like anything else, we need to know the facts before we can appreciate it or know if it’s something we want to do.

Danielle Trujillo Facts We All Want to Know Salary: roughly $53,000/year (High School Teacher) Required Education: BA Job Outlook: Slower than average A few things we should know about any profession we are looking into are: (click for 1st point) the salary. A history teacher’s salary is roughly $53,000 a year, if they are teaching in high school. (click for 2nd point) The required education for the job. History teachers are required to have a bachelor’s degree. And (click for 3rd point) the job outlook. Unfortunately, the job outlook for history teachers is slower than average. -- Job outlook is the predicted availability for that job in the future. Some of the main reasons people choose to be a teacher are that: You can Share your passions with others: Teachers are able to help students discover subjects that they love and develop their own passion for them. There is good Job Security: Layoffs and downsizing are rare occasions in education. You Earn a solid paycheck: While, teaching is not a way to get rich quick, public teachers are paid approx. 11 percent more than the average professional. A career in teaching also allows opportunities for advancement and pay raises over time. And Teaching provides Flexibility: For those who wish to have a family, a teaching career allows them to avoid a lot of child care expenses and to spend more time at home with their children.
