1 Revelation 6-7 The Horsemen Ride

2 1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ
1: among the lampstands was someone like a son of man…his eyes were like blazing fire…and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters… His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. 5:12 In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,     to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

3 “[there are] many around who, like pushy guides at a tourist site, try to get us to hire them to tell us all about the “furniture of heaven and the temperature of hell”, the number of the beast, and the calendar of doomsday. G.K Chesterton once remarked that ‘though St. John the Evangelist saw many strange monsters in his vision, he saw no creature so wild as one of his own commentators.’” - Eugene Peterson

4 1:3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. 22:10 Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near.

5 14 I answered, “Sir, you know.”
6:1 I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2 I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest. 3 When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. 7:13 Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?” 14 I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

6 6:1 I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals
6:1 I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2 I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest. 3 When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other.

7 6:5 When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. 6 Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “A quart of wheat for a day’s wages, and three quarts of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!” 6:7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. black

8 6:9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 12 I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, 13 and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind.

9 6:10  They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?”  17 For the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

10 6:10  They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?”  11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer 17 For the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?” 7:3…put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God… 14 These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

11 7:14 And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore, “they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. 16 ‘Never again will they hunger;  never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,  nor any scorching heat. 17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne     will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

12 Revelation 13:10 “If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.” This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people.
