System Tests at Lyon From Aachen: ICB for front petal side A, disks 4-6, rings 4 and 6 From CERN: CCU25 Tests (M. Ageron): FEC ring and I2C addressing Test for voltage oscillations Data acquisition for system tests. 18/09/2018 Nick Lumb

FEC ring ICB has connectors for kapton cable from DOH.
Don’t have DOH so built adapter board to allow clk and data to arrive/return directly to/from FEC. FEC CCU1 CCU2 ICB clk/data Cable/reset adapter DOH adapter board 18/09/2018 Nick Lumb

Over-voltage study Response to sudden application of power on 2.5V line. Smooth increase to maximum – no evidence of over-voltage problem. But only one module! 18/09/2018 Nick Lumb

Next Steps Test redundancy (“B” lines). Not entirely trivial: needs hardware and software modifications. Dark box to house full petal under construction. Contains metal plate to mount ICB and modules. Integrated cooling loop. Install 4 modules in ring 6 positions: We have 4 necessary opto-hybrids. Will receive 3 modules this week from Aachen; our old module must be repaired. Read out with XDAQ – pedestals, noise, etc. Check for dangerous LV oscillations. Further 4 hybrids at ring 4 positions: Need 4 additional opto-hybrids. Need LVDS buffers for ICB plus connectors. Need 4 hybrids (on frames?) 18/09/2018 Nick Lumb

Next Steps (cont.) Equip ring 3 positions: need ICB for front petal side B, plus hybrids and opto-hybrids. 18/09/2018 Nick Lumb

Data Acquisition “CMS-like” system developed by L. Mirabito et al.
Recent integration into XDAQ framework facilitates task sharing between processors (Event Builder; FED, FEC, TSC control; Monitoring, etc). Java-based (JAS) monitoring developed at Lyon well suited to large number of histograms (tree-like directory structure). Successfully operated for May PSI test-beam: 12 modules -> 24 FED channels, high event rate. Runs for “old” CCU already in Lyon; will upgrade for CCU25. 18/09/2018 Nick Lumb

Conclusions Data from a single module on an ICB has been successfully read out via opto-hybrid. No problem running with 2 CCU25s (difficulties initially with one CCU plus bypass). No evidence of over-voltages when applying power. Will continue study with more modules for ring 4 and ultimately equip whole of group II. CMS-like data acquisition system works with CCU25. Next step: adapt PSI-style XDAQ implementation. 18/09/2018 Nick Lumb
