A homeless count completed with multiple volunteers revealed 100 homeless individuals (Bass, 2016) Point In Time Homeless Count in Kamloops Part of the National Homeless count initiative To have a clearer idea of the homeless situation across Canada March 27-28, 2018 Duration: 24 hours (Donnelly, 2018)

So, Why Socks? Listened to the voice of the homeless
Request for socks Feet are important When our feet are tired and painful to walk on – we hurt When feet are cold – how would you feel Feet are a mode of transportation Feet may be the only mode of transportation homeless individuals have access to Stop to think about your own day Basic clothing item - socks Something as simple as a pair of clean dry socks can impact your day How much more it could mean to a homeless individual to have a pair of clean dry socks to put on their tired sore feet

How Can We Make A Difference?
Check our biases Know that we have them Take time to understand why Actively Listen Be sincere See the person for the person; not the situation or illness Make a point to understand the situation Bring socks to New Life Community 181 West Victoria Street Socks have been requested by the homeless during multiple conversations

In Conclusion Socks for the homeless is an important concept
Basic item of clothing The feet may be the only mode of transportation A new pair of socks can help to keep feet clean, warm, and dry When there is opportunity to have feet that are warm and dry - makes for a better day
