Rediscovering Relationship with My Passion
Session Goal By the end of this session, we will be able to locate the intersection between our own deepest passion and the world’s deepest need.

Rediscovering Relationship with My Passion
Session Scripture But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves. For if any are hearers of the word and not doers, they are like those who look at themselves in a mirror; for they look at themselves and, on going away, immediately forget what they were like. But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act - they will be blessed in their doing. James 1:22-25 (NRSV) The New Oxford Annotated Bible Third Edition: New Revised Standard Version. Ed. Michael D. Coogan, New York, Oxford University Press, 2001

Session Quote from Wayne Dyer
Rediscovering Relationship with My Passion Session Quote from Wayne Dyer [Your calling is] not necessarily about performing a specific task or being in a certain occupation or living in a specific location. It’s about sharing yourself in a creative, loving way using the skills and interests that are inherently part of you. (The Power of Intention) Wayne Dyer, The Power of Intention, Hay House, USA, 2004, p. 152

Reflecting on the Tapestry of Our Lives
Rediscovering Relationship with My Passion Reflecting on the Tapestry of Our Lives Review your chapter titles. Do any of them name or describe your passion? Look at the columns of your Tapestry Exercise chart. Is there one category of information in which you see more of a thread of your passion (energy, joy, power) than the others? If so, name it. Is there a chapter in which you felt more alive or less alive than in the others? Can you find a single thread of passion flowing throughout your life?

Reflecting on the Tapestry of Our Lives continued
Rediscovering Relationship with My Passion Reflecting on the Tapestry of Our Lives continued Individually review your Tapestry Exercise chart and the questions you’ve just answered in class, and try to finish the sentence: The thread of my passion is: _________________. In a few minutes, join with two others to coach and affirm each other in the creation of your sentences. We’ll be using these sentences later in the class, and in next week’s ritual, so it’s important that you write a sentence that you’re really comfortable with, one that is truly descriptive of your passion.

Wisdomkeepers Reflections
Rediscovering Relationship with My Passion Wisdomkeepers Reflections Who knows your song? Who really, really, knows your song? Journal about a time when someone inferred that your song, or at least a verse or two, wasn’t welcome in that place, be it your home, with a group of friends, in a club, or at school.

Individual Work – African Tribe Song
Rediscovering Relationship with My Passion Individual Work – African Tribe Song Our songs are too beautiful not to be sung! Loud and off key or in harmony from the rooftops of our lives!! Is there anyone, anything, any organization, holding you back from singing your song? Is there anything in your life keeping you from singing this song today? If there is, and with most of us there is, write it down in your Participant Guide on page 59, and then write down how you can begin to free yourself! Is there anything else stopping you from singing? Repeat process above!

Rediscovering Relationship with My Passion
Bagger says to Hardy: “Inside each and every one of us is one true authentic swing. Somethin’ we was born with, somethin’ that’s ours and ours alone. Somethin’ can’t be taught to you or learned. Somethin’ that got to be remembered. Over time the world can rob us of that swing It get buried inside us under all our wouldas and couldas and shouldas. Some folk even forget what they swing was like.” The Legend of Bagger Vance, dir. Robert Redford, Dreamworks, 2000. Scene 8, 50:00-52:00

Rediscovering Relationship with My Passion Bagger and Junuh in the Woods The message for this class, which perfectly illustrates again the African Tribe Song and Charlie Knight stories, is in Bagger’s words: “Now play the game. Your game The one that only you was meant to play. The one that was given to you when you come into this world Now’s the time. Let yourself remember. Remember your swing.” The Legend of Baggar Vance, DVD, DreamWorks, CA, 2001, (Scene 17, 1:37:45-1:43:04)
