Optimize the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Value Streams Through Appropriate Health IT Interventions
Demonstration Site: Daeyang Luke Hospital, Malawi Current and Past Grant funding: Improving Quality of Care and Health Impact through Sustainable, Integrated, Innovative Information System Technologies in Malawi. US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. Implementation of an Electronic Village Register to support Birth & Death Registration in Malawi. International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease. Implementation of Automated Guideline Adherence Feedback in Malawi. Fogarty International Institute (NIH). Strengthening Management of HIV/AIDS and Non Communicable Diseases Through Appropriate Medical Informatics. Goal: Improve efficiency and timeliness of healthcare delivery, reduce costs, and increase patient and provider satisfaction. Approach: Use techniques and tools from lean healthcare to identify waste in the existing value streams. Develop and deploy health IT interventions to reduce and potentially eliminate waste.
