Getting Back to Bethel
The Lord commanded Jacob to come back to Bethel, the house of God, to renew their covenant relationship. Like Jacob and his family, Christians can drift away from the Lord. We need to give up our idols, cleanse our lives, and come back to God’s house.

2. Getting Back to Bethel (Genesis 35:1-7)
God commanded Jacob to return to Bethel
Some today need to get back to the House of God (Revelation 2:4-5).

Return (Luke 15:11-24; Mal. 3:7; James 4:8)
Repeat (Genesis 28:16-22)

3. Getting Back to Bethel (Genesis 35:1-7)
Jacob Respected God’s Command (35:2-5)
He and His family began to make changes
They cast away their idols (1 John 5:21; 2:15; Colossians 3:1-5)
They cleansed themselves (Ps. 66:18; 24:3-4)
They changed their dress (James 1:27)
They got rid of their worldly attachments and temptations permanently (Acts 19:19)

4. Getting Back to Bethel (Genesis 35:1-7)
Jacob came back to the House of God. (35:6-7)
He OBEYED God’s word and worshiped as he had been commanded!
