The work on disability as a development issue initiated at the Bank in 2002 It was a response to a strong pressure from disabled people organizations, civil society organizations, and Bank members The Bank has evolved into the global knowledge and learning resource on D&D

Gender Equality and the World Bank

Those committed to gender equity, often fail to consider disability, and those committed to disability equity, often fail to consider gender, thus unwittingly rendering a majority of girls and women with disabilities invisible.
