2. What is the purpose of the African Union?
The purpose of the African Union is to achieve greater unity between all Africans and African countries. They want to defend their sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence for all of it’s members. They are trying to advance the political, social, and economic integration.

3. What does the African Union do and how do they do it?
The African Union has ten commissioners overseeing departments like political affairs, agriculture, peace, and security. It works for "democracy, human rights, and development", while it also promotes investment in African countries that need help and sending aid to troubled areas that need help.

5. What are the benefits of the African Union?
The African Union has been effective in increasing cooperation and unity within Africa. It works towards diminishing conflict throughout the continent and boosting democracy. According to an AU spokesman, Africa is progressing not only in peace and security, but also in culture, education, trade, and importance on the empowerment of women. There are also plans to decrease corruption and boost credibility in African leaders.

6. How effective has this organization been and what have they done successfully?
The African Union has successfully boosted cooperation and unity within Africa, and has put its efforts towards lowering conflicts and increasing democracy. Africa is trying to progress in peace, security, culture, education, and trade. They are also trying to place importance on women empowerment. They are starting processes to help stop corruption and increase credibility with leaders. The African Peer Review Mechanism evaluates member states on their successes and failures, 62% of the countries have signed up. The African Union has been effective in creating a more unified African continent.

7. What is the global impact of the AU?
Africa’s ending of colonial rule led to the advancement of political freedom and liberation in the whole continent. The AU made sure that all of Africa would be free of colonialism, racism, and apartheid.The AU made its contributions to global peace by taking no side in the Cold War and worked to promote, restore and sustain peace in conflict ridden areas of the world.
