The Challenge: After a document is scanned or captured, additional text elements can be added to a PDF including: Annotations, Keywords, Bookmarks, Watermarks and Digital Signatures.
This is where the trouble starts:
When you use OCR to create a Searchable PDF using any popular OCR program, you lose your annotations, keywords and other elements. Other elements like watermarks or layers are permanently flattened into the document and can destroy underlying text!
