Social background In order to have a clear view of the social background of the children we interviewed 145 parents: 55 fathers and 50 mothers. A diploma – 22% of fathers went to school up to the age of 14 – 24% of mothers went to school up to the age of 14 – 10% of fathers have a bachelor degree (in Morocco) – 2% of mothers have a bachelor degree (in Morocco) – 8% of mothers are illiterate B job – 20% of fathers are unemployed – 50% of fathers are workers – 54% of mothers are unemployed – 40% of mothers are cleaning help They send their children to extra language courses to better their chances of social upward mobility.

The project 1.Pedagogic purpouses: we try to achieve emotional, cognitive and instrumental motivation towards learning dutch. We try do this through achieving an improved satisfaction concerning the subject matter and a quicker and more efficient acquisition of the Dutch language (A1, A2).

A. Statements from the survey regarding emotional motivation: – Dutch is a beautiful language. – Dutch is a fun language. – Dutch is an important language in Brussels. B. Statements from the survey regarding emotional cognitive motivation : – I want to understand Dutch spoken tv shows. – I want to understand Dutch spoken songs. C. Statements from the survey regarding instrumental motivation: – I want to improve my grades. – I need Dutch to find a good job later. – I need Dutch to be succesful in higher education.

Improve transparency of courses and qualifications in order to promote international cooperation. Objective criteria defining language mastery
