2 The Producer financial and managerial tasks.
Producers in the Broadway theatre are often accused of placing financial considerations above artistic integrity. Responsibilities are most clearly defined in the Broadway theatre. Have to seek financial backing from many people or groups.

3 The Producer Producers usually approach prospective investors with a proposed budget. After they raise the necessary capital, they negotiate contracts with all of the personnel who will be involved Rent space for auditions and rehearsals. Responsibilities are less clearly defined in other situations. Kevin and Shirley‑-record & produce

4 The Producer In community theatre, the organization itself is usually the producer, and volunteers carry out many of the duties. In education theatre, the drama teacher is usually the producer and director in one. White Pines Collegiate and Vocational School Sault Ste Marie Community Theatre

5 The Director Concerned with the artistic aspects of production:
Decides upon an interpretation of the script and a production concept that will shape its staging. Casts and rehearses with the performers. Work with the designers. Integrates all of the elements into a finished production. Theatre Director

The Director Analyzing and studying the script, the director : They may note its structural pattern of preparation, complication, climax, and resolution. Some directors divide a script into short segments (French scenes). Examine the function of each segment in relation. Note their emotional reaction to certain moments in the script or images. Studies all of the characters to understand their individual functions in the play. Note scenic, costume, and lighting requirements. Aware of the script’s potential and pitfalls, opportunities, and difficulties.

Consult sources beyond the script to understand the author’s view. Creates a vision board and basically does the work of a dramaturg. Creates a concept statement. A one sentence statement about what the play will be about.

9 The Director Working with the actors, the director:
Work to mesh actors with their roles and the dramatic action. Throughout the rehearsal process, the director assesses the actor’s work and makes suggestion for improvement. 10 The Director Stage images
Need to be aware of visual composition not merely to create beautiful stage pictures. Controls the position of the performers on stage. Construct images from a variety of angles throughout the performance. The large screens hanging off the front of the circle allow the singers and actors to see the Musical Director’s on-stage conducting, whilst performing. Photo: Alex Bourne
