Solving Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities Graphically
Chapter 7 Section 1 Solving Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities Graphically
2
Essential Question How do you solve a systems of equations?
3
Key Information about Systems of Equations
Solved when we find one ORDERED PAIR of solutions that satisfies BOTH equations Solve by: graphing, substitution, elimination < indicates to shade BELOW > indicates to shade ABOVE
4
Line Relationships Independent: lines intersect at ONE point, only one ordered pair (AKA coordinate) satisfies both equations Inconsistent: lines do NOT intersect at all, lines are parallel (same slope) Dependent: the lines COINCIDE (overlap), looks like the same line because the equations are identical or multiples, and any ordered pair satisfies both equations
