SA OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP 2017 Venue: Durban University of Technology – Steve Biko Campus – Berea Durban Kwa- Zulu Natal Date: 14th July 2017 / 15th July 07:30 till late

2 GENERAL INFORMATION What is our aim?
To host the annual SA Open Championships. This is the opportunity for athletes not ranked in the top 6 in each division to score ranking points. Points will be added towards the ranking and could allow these athletes to move into the top 6 rankings. This is for Elite Athletes only The details are as follows: Date: 14th July 2017 and 15th July 2017 Time: Friday and Saturday 08h00 until late FRIDAY : ALL KATA DIVISIONS PLUS CHILDRENS KUMITE and SENIOR KUMITE SATURDAY : OTHER KUMITE DIVISIONS: Cadet Kumite, Junior Kumite, U21 Kumite, Masters and Veterans Kumite Venue: Durban University of Technology – Steve Biko Campus – Berea- Durban – KwaZulu Natal Province Participation Fee: R per individual per category, SA Open has no team kata. Spectators: R30.00 under 18 years/ Children and R50.00 Adults Closing date for entries for the Elite will be: 8th June 2017 Entry fees must be deposited into KSA account, BY PROVINCES. ATHLETES MUST ENTER VIA PROVINCE Who will be eligible to participate? Elite Athletes that are not ranked in the top 6 for that division . All provinces are allowed to enter unlimited number of individuals per division(Must be Elite Athletes; Brown – Black Belts). The Athlete must have competed at elite level for Regional, Provincial and maybe at National this year or last year (this event IS NOT for development Athletes). Entries have to be entered by Provinces. A hard copy and proof of payment must be ed to the Championship Director Sensei Leonardo Ciutto and treasurer: Weigh-in: will be done Thursday be on 13th July @ 16h00 till 20h00 and athletes found to be outside their weight category will be disqualified. All athletes must be medically fit before they can be allowed to participate. This is an Official National Event and only registered members from the affiliated provinces may enter.

3 GENERAL CHAMPIONSHIP RULES
Athletes take part at their own risk. No claim may be made against KSA – WKF or any of the officials officiating on the day of the championship. It is the responsibility of every Provincial Coach to explain the conditions/ rules to each athlete and/or parent before entering the championship. Any athlete entered in an incorrect age or weight will be disqualified. Coaches and Team Managers must ensure that correct information is submitted. Any athlete not reporting to his/her floor after 3-call out will be disqualified. THE SA OPEN WILL RUN TO WKF RULES INCLUDING THE REVIEW RULES FROM THE SA CHAMPS WKF rules will apply during the championship. Athletes must use WKF Protective gear. Breast protectors and body protectors are compulsory for female & Male competitors including mouth guard, red/blue mitts and belts, foot and shinguards. Coaches: Only the appointed coaches from each provinces may coach an athlete from his/ her province. Only coaches wearing their full tracksuit will be allowed to coach. Those wearing only tracksuit top or trouser/ Protea track suit won’t be allowed on the floor. WKF rules(as mentioned above) on coaching must be strictly adhered to and non compliance to the rules and regulations will lead to disciplinary steps being taken. Team Managers: Team Managers must wear their official Provincial Attire (Navy blue blazer, white shirt, tie, gray pants, black shoes & socks) Team Managers are not allowed in competition area

Referees and Judges: All officials must be dressed appropriately as per WKF rules, including table officials. 5 DIVISIONS Elite Athletes that are not nationally ranked in the top 6 for that division . Divisions will be the same as the SA Championship events held in 2017. Children, Cadets, Juniors, U21, Seniors, Veterans and Masters Divisions Disability: only Kata divisions are available for Disabled Athletes (as per the WKF)
