7 Groups involved in Readiness and Response
Law enforcement – local, state, federal First responders – Fire, HAZMAT Medical – EMS, ED, Laboratory Public Health – epidemiology, laboratory Environmental Health Many groups involved in readiness and response. Today’s program provides an opportunity to improve your ability to interact with other groups in an emergency. You may know your own role, but do you know what others think your role is, or what others think their role is? Group exercises this afternoon will provide time to dialog about various emergency scenarios and discuss not only what you would be doing, but what other groups would be doing in that situation. 9/19/2018

8 Today’s Participants Varied audience Varied expertise
Varied experience Today’s participants include first responders, clinical and public health laboratorians, medical personnel. ASK FOR SHOW OF HANDS OF DIFFERENT GROUPS ASK THE PARTICIPANTES TO TAKE A MINUTE TO INTRODUCE THEMSELVES TO PERSON NEXT TO THEM Don’t normally learn together. Each person here has expertise in their own areas of preparedness, but may be unaware what other groups must do to be prepared. May be unaware of how to interact with other groups in an emergency and what each of you expects from the other. 9/19/2018

12 Recommendation Meet someone new Take information back
Continue to improve We realize this one-day program cannot complete your all hazards readiness training, but it is a beginning. CHALLENGE PARTICIPANTS TO MEET AND TALK TO ONE PERSON FROM ANOTHER GROUP AT EACH BREAK AND EAT LUNCH WITH SOMEONE THEY DON”T KNOW. Your participation here today may identify a collaboration problem in your area or give you an idea of how to better work together. Take that idea back to your workplace. Set up an exercise, table top or similar activity that crosses boundaries Form a cross-cutting team to solve a problem. Identify goals and benchmarks in partnership with other groups. Keep learning and improving! 9/19/2018
