1 Multi-Facility Fund Information Session

2 Strategic focus To partially address identified sports facility deficits; To contribute to targets outlined in The Northern Ireland Strategy for Sport and Physical Recreation ( ) – Sport Matters; To contribute to objectives of Sport Northern Ireland’s Corporate Plan.

3 Priorities for funding
Community sports hubs Minimum of 4 different facility types. Addresses sports facility gaps Supported by 3 different Governing Bodies of Sport.

1 x natural turf Gaelic Pitch 1 x natural turf Soccer Pitch 1 x natural turf Rugby Pitch Facility Type 2 (Sports Halls) 1 X four-court sports hall Governing Body Support: Pitches supported by GAA, IFA & IRFU Governing Body Support: Sports hall supported by Basketball NI Facility Type 3 (Synthetic Pitches) 1 X 2nd generation pitch 1 X 3rd generation pitch Facility Type 4 (Fitness Suite) 1 X 50 station fitness suite Governing Body Support: 2G pitch supported by Ulster Hockey Governing Body Support: No support from a governing body

5 Governing Bodies of Sport
What should a Letter of Support include? Overview of project; Confirmation of the facility type being supported; Evidence of how the proposed facility meets their strategic priorities; List of the main affiliated clubs that will use the facility.

6 Eligible project types
Existing, new or upgraded facilities. All facilities must meet minimum competition specifications. Exceptions will be made for schools.

7 Ineligible project types
Pitch Perimeter Trails Outdoor Handball Courts/Walls Ball Walls Changing Provision/Social Facilities/Club Rooms Multi-Purpose Rooms/Treatment rooms Stand-alone Storage Facilities Ancillary facilities - Spectator Provision, Car Parking Land purchase

8 Eligible Applicants Councils; Voluntary sports clubs;
Community associations; Schools/Colleges/Universities; Education authorities on behalf of education establishments; Governing Bodies; and Charities.

9 Funding Indicative budget £6.75m Awards between £100K - £1m
Up to 80% of costs eligible (except Councils 60%) Partnership funding will be required!

10 Application process Two stage process Stage 1 – eligibility check
Stage 2 – Sports Development Plan for each of the 4 different facility types

11 Stage 1 Scoring Assessment Criteria – Stage 1 Application
Scoring criteria Creation of a multi-facility environment. Support from 3+ Governing Bodies of Sport Facility need for your proposal. Pass/Fail

12 No State of Readiness Applicants are not required to have appointed a design team or secure planning permission in advance of an application.

13 F.A.Qs 1. We received grant aid from Sport NI before, does this exclude us from applying for this fund? Previous grants will not impact on eligibility to apply. 2. Gaelic sports are represented by 4 Governing Bodies of Sport (Ulster Council GAA, Ulster Handball Council, Ulster Camogie Council and Ladies Gaelic Football Association). Does the programme recognise these as separate Governing Bodies? Yes.

14 F.A.Qs 3. Is Planning required?
Planning approval is not a prerequisite to submitting an application. 4. Is land purchase eligible? No.

15 F.A.Qs 5. Is a MUGA eligible? No. 6. Are handball alleys eligible?
6. Are handball alleys eligible?  Indoor handball courts are eligible, outdoor are not. 7. Are pitch perimeter trails eligible?
