Why tutors and tutoring?
A tutor: Offers supplemental support for faculty-driven curriculum Provides a sounding board for students to discuss their academic challenges Guides students toward greater understanding of course material for successful assignment completion Tutoring sessions encourage students to: Participate in question-based dialogue around their work Increase academic engagement through proactive study habits and goal setting Build study skills, including organization and time management, to foster independent learning
5
What are the benefits of tutoring?
Meets various learning styles and student needs Refreshes skill sets from previous classes Offers an opportunity to address questions not asked in class Encourages students to organize, plan ahead, and meet assignment deadlines

How can students sign up?
All disciplines now offer tutoring appointments. Appointment-based tutoring may be scheduled for one 50-minute session per course or discipline per day. Schedule online via GradesFirst OR visit the Front Desk OR call Drop-ins are welcome, as available Check in at the desk prior to session time All sessions are one-on-one unless: Students form a study group for the same assignment and the tutor agrees to a group session Tutees must have a CCC ID number

What is drop-in tutoring?
Drop-in tutoring is non-scheduled, one-on-one tutoring, offered on a first come, first served basis. Drop-ins are: Available for all appointment slots at 5 minutes past the hour in the event of appointment cancellations or “No Shows.” Additionally available in Math for half-hour slots during “peak” ASC operating hours. Designed for “quick questions,” as they typically run for less than 1 hour (remainder of the appointment hour) or 30 minutes (Math). Matched at the ASC’s front desk in real time only. If necessary, students sign a wait list and sit in the ASC’s lobby. Students must be present when their names are called to receive drop-in tutoring. Assigned to students with a CCC ID number only.
