1. Overhead view of Butterfield Elementary School pedestrian transportation zones.
The yellow zone is the area in which a student can walk one mile staying on the sidewalks.
The blue zone shows the area in which a student can walk for 15 minutes by staying on the sidewalks.
The purple triangles are impedance points indicating where the student may need to cross the street or wait for a traffic signal to change.

2. 3D Visualization of sidewalk condition, location, and altitude.
A 3D visual map created using a Digital Elevation Model (DEM), including the city’s building footprints, roads, sidewalk data, and school districts. Sidewalk distance (yellow area) shows the distance a student can travel from his/her school following a sidewalk without having to cross any major highways or impedance zones. Sidewalks that were inaccessible from the sidewalk network were not included in the Sidewalk distance area.
