After three consecutive days, a doctor’s note must be submitted.
ABSENCES In the event your child is absent, parents MUST call to report the absence to school. A written excuse for absence is required upon returning to school for the absence to be considered EXCUSED. After three consecutive days, a doctor’s note must be submitted. Students not in attendance during the official attendance time of 10:00 am will be marked absent.

Students may not share food due to possible food allergies.
Cafeteria/Meal Time Breakfast Served: 7:30 – 7:55 Cafeteria closes at 8 am Breakfast Cost: Student $1.40/Adult $2.00 Lunch Cost: Student $2.20/Adult $3.50 Our Lunch Time: 10:35-11:05 To promote healthy eating habits, money placed into your child’s lunch account is for purchasing one meal at breakfast and/or one meal at lunch. Students can bring cash from home for purchasing extra snacks. To reduce interruptions, we request that fast food be brought to students on Fridays. Due to Texas Guidelines, food provided to other students is prohibited. Parents can bring lunch for their child only. Students may not share food due to possible food allergies. Menu Hotline:

Car Riders/Car Poolers
For pick up, post car plaques with your child’s name and grade level written in large black print. Extra plaques or replacement plaques are located in the office if needed. Place plaque in vehicle either hanging from the rear view mirror or closest to the driver’s side of the car Please use daily all school year. Cell phone usage prohibited in school zones and drop off/pick up areas.

Celebrate Responsibility!
Be On Time Ready to Learn 7:30 a.m. Sharp! Students are released to the classroom at 7:30 upon arrival to school. Students who are Present and Punctual with ZERO TARDIES will be recognized each nine weeks!

CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES Check your child out through the front office or on the sign-out sheet during special events with your child’s teacher. For your child’s safety, send written requests for early pickup and/or changes in dismissal procedure to the teacher at the beginning of the day. FAXED NOTE, VOICE MAIL OR S will NOT be accepted. Unexpected dismissal changes must be made prior to 2:30 through the front office.

DISMISSAL on a RAINY DAY
Make an alternate plan with your child(ren) for rainy day dismissal. Students will be released at regular times if it is just raining. Bikers and walkers will be held in the front foyer at PFE if it is thundering and lightning Students can be released to parent or dismissed to head home when safe. Bike racks are not locked overnight. Keep your bike safe by not leaving it at school overnight.

DRESS CODE Any form of dress or grooming that attracts undue attention, is unsafe, disrupts school, or detracts from the learning process is not acceptable. No short shorts, spaghetti straps, strapless or halter tops, low-cut shirts, flip flops/backless shoes and baggie pants. Please refer to the Humble ISD Elementary Student Handbook for more details.

EMERGENCY In the event of an emergency where students must be evacuated from PFE, the alternative sites are Oak Forest Elementary and second site, Atascocita Middle School Notification of alternate site will be communicated through school insider, sign at front door, and PFE website.

5th GRADE INFORMATION Late Work Policy
(As stated in the Parent/Student Handbook) Assignments and tests must be completed and turned in on the assigned date in order to receive full credit. Any assignment not submitted upon the request of the teacher will be considered late work. Student grades will be deducted no more than 10 points for late work. 5th GRADE INFORMATION

5th GRADE INFORMATION STAAR Testing/SSI
Fifth graders take the Reading, Math, and Science STAAR tests. Dates: Math STAAR -March 28, Reading STAAR- March 29, Science STAAR –May 10. Fifth Grade is a Student Success Initiative year. Students that do not pass the first attempt of STAAR will take the test again 2nd Round Math STAAR- May 8 and 2nd Round Reading STAAR- May 9. Students who do not pass the second attempt will attend summer school and take the STAAR test again in late June. Students must pass Reading and Math in order to be promoted to sixth grade pending TEA decisions. Our goal is communication with parents- we will keep you updated on your student’s progress and meet with you in October for parent/teacher conferences and periodically throughout the school year.

Cell phone consequences:
Cell Phones Students are permitted to have a cell phone on campus for communication before and after the school day ONLY. The student must keep the phone in their backpack/purse turned off and out of sight during the school day (8:00 – 3:20). Cell phone consequences: First offense: Warning – Ask student to turn off phone and place in backpack. Second offense: Ask student to turn off phone and notify parent. Third offense: Turn phone into the front office, clearly labeled with student and teacher name. Teacher notifies parent to retrieve phone from front office. 5th GRADE INFORMATION

5th GRADE INFORMATION Tutoring
Tutoring will start the week of September 12th. Students need to be on time and in attendance for tutoring sessions. These are small group instructional settings with minimal distractions. The groups are flexible and will change throughout the year depending on assessment data and student needs. Students need to be picked up from afternoon tutoring on time (4:00). Tutoring Schedule: Mr. Lovelady (Math) –Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 7:30–7:50 Mrs. Howard (Reading) – Monday and Tuesday 7:30 – 8:00 a.m. 5th GRADE INFORMATION

Birthday Celebrations and Invitations
Ice cream treats can be purchased through the cafeteria and served at the end of lunch. To order your ice-cream treats, contact the Cafeteria Manager, Chawn Johnson District policy-Distribution of food treats and party invitations are not permitted at school. Due to regulations set by the state, cupcakes and cookies are not allowed to be served to children during the school day. Exceptions: Three party days per school year Winter Party Friendship Party Super Kids Day
