6. Grading & Report Cards
Not all class work is given for grading purposes. Some assignments are used to provide instruction, practice, or reinforcement of a concept. These assignments will not have a percentage or letter grade on them. They will simple have a check mark, a star, or a happy face.
All graded and recorded work will have a percentage and a letter grade posted.
Your child’s current grade may be checked by
going to Parent Connect on the school’s website.

7. Attendance
It is important that your child be here every day. However, if he/she is ill and stays home from school, make sure you inform the office with a phone call or send a note including the reason for the absence.
I give a small perfect attendance reward each month. (No absents, tardies or early releases)

8. Birthday Policy
Your child’s name will be announced during our daily morning announcements, and Mrs. Gruebel will deliver them a special gift.
Ben Franklin School Policy does not allow parents to bring or send treats to school for birthdays.

9. Homework Folder Your child needs a folder with pockets.
Please label it with their name.
This homework folders come home every day.
Homework:
--On Monday, you will find the weekly newsletter inside.
--Homework packets will be sent home on Monday and due back on Friday.
--Read minutes each night.

11. AR
Students will take a computerized test to see their current reading level. Once this is determined, student should read books within that range. They may take comprehension quizzes in class to earn prizes.

12. Thursday Folder
This folder is used as a means to communicate between school and home.
Your child’s graded work and important school notices are sent home on Thursday.
The folders should be returned on
Friday emptied of all assignments.

All of the Office’s forms should
be returned ASAP.

15. Visitors
Visitors must check-in and out in the front office before arriving/leaving campus. Volunteers must fill out the District’s Volunteer paperwork before they will be allowed into the class. These policies are for the safety and security of everyone.

I also need helpers to prep materials for lessons.
Our class needs a Room Parent.

I provide all the supplies that your child needs during their day at school. Except their homework folder.
If you would like to donate something the 2 most needed items are glue sticks and copy/printer paper.

20. Photographs Student Handbook
In order for me to take any photos of your child you must fill out page 45 in this book.
I will not post any photos online.
I use photos in our monthly writing journals and other project your child will bring home.

22. Fundraiser
Our Fall Fundraiser began next Friday. It’s our classroom’s goal to have each student sell at least one item. The class receives a party and other rewards if we reach that goal.
