Complex Societies in the West While they didn't leave any spectacular ruins, their societies were very complex, having long-distance trade and magnificent buildings. Trading centers could be located all throughout North America. Trading Centers were necessary because they needed thing that they were unable to produce themselves It was vital as well because they were able to get valuable things from other by a simple trade of what they had making it fair.

On the northwest Coast , families had celebrations called Potlatch and this is where everyone showed their prosperity Some important tribes were as follows -Hohokam- successful farmers from AZ (heavily influenced from Anasazi) -Anasazi - Thought to be modern ancestors from the modern pueblo Indians -Mississippian - known by Lat Mound Building Culture because they built huge earthen pyramids -Iroquois- political alliance , group that spoke relative languages

The Mayan People built huge cities such as Tikal The mayans were Polytheistic Showing their gratitude to their gods they Made food offerings flowers prayed They even gave blood because they thought it would nourish the gods

The first major civilization of central Mexico was Teotihuacan, a city-state whose ruins lie just outside Mexico City One of the largest cities in the world in the sixth century By 750, Teotihuacan, was virtually abandoned
