3 Rise to Popularity By CE 8 Ovid was the leading Roman poet.
Very humane writer, subjects were of great interest to Romans. His work even survived the early Christian period despite controversial themes.

4 Metamorphoses 15 book unorthodox epic, considered Ovid’s magnum opus.
Consists of myths that tell history from creation up to Ovid’s lifetime. Transformations are the main focus of the epic. Water often used in Ovid’s transformations.

5 Ars Amatoria How to pick up girls.
Consists of 3 books, with one dedicated to women. Extremely popular, but controversial topics.

6 Exiled by Augustus “carmen et error” Mystery around Ovid’s mistake.
Many of his works banned from libraries.

7 Final Years in Tomis Ovid had trouble adapting to his new life.
He still produced many works in exile
