Student Symposium April 13&14; Awards April 20
This is Research 2015 Student Symposium April 13&14; Awards April 20 Faculty Symposium September 30 Research Week has evolved into This is Research. This is Research will feature a student symposium this April and a faculty symposium in September. This change was based on a range of input sources and culminated with two meetings over the summer with faculty and administrators who discussed the purpose and value of Research Week, noting which aspects were and were not hitting the mark. The decision is to hold more focused, shorter events that address the most important goals for students and for faculty.

Auburn University This is Research 2015 Faculty Symposium: September 30th
Recognition Auburn Talks and Featured Presentations Visibility with board members, industry… Connection Poster and Lightning Sessions Connections across and beyond Auburn University Keynote and Reception Creative Scholarship featured biennially starting in 2016 Held in the AUBURN UNIVESITY HOTEL AND DIXON CONFERENCE CENTER The This is Research Faculty Symposium has two primary aims: recognition and connection This is Research will be a place to showcase some of the most successful researchers at Auburn each year – units will select faculty to be honored in this way and these faculty members will present their research in the form of Auburn Talks or in some other featured presentation format. Students and faculty will benefit from attending these presentations, and those selected to present will be receiving a meaningful honor. We also will be inviting the Research Advisory Board members (their fall meeting will overlap with the Sept. 30 event. And we will be inviting industry and foundation representatives, and faculty members from other nearby colleges/universities (colleagues, collaborators, and those interested in the strategic interdisciplinary research areas at Auburn) . These are valuable audiences for our researchers. Connection among Auburn researchers also is important, since more and more we need to collaborate across disciplines to develop viable projects and secure external funding. This is research will be structured to promote connection through themed poster sessions and lightning presentation sessions. Finally, we will conclude the event with a keynote speaker and reception– cyber will be the theme for the keynote as this links with the topic of Auburn Speaks 2015 Starting in 2016 Creative Scholarship will be featured biennially. We had an awesome exhibition in 2014 but the installation was time and labor intensive – it was decided that we would hold an extended creative scholarship exhibition every other year beginning in We want to use a venue that permits high visibility and extended time for the exhibition of the creative works.

Please get the word out to faculty to encourage student engagement
by designing This is Research 2015 into Course Syllabi and Assignments For the April student symposium and the September faculty symposium, we ask that you encourage faculty to incorporate This is Research into their syllabi. For the April Student Symposium we ask that students who are presenting be supported to do so by faculty and that students who are not presenting be encouraged to attend some of the presentations. For the September Faculty Symposium – we suggest having assignments or extra credit would encourage students to attend the event and be exposed to the exciting research being conducted across campus.
