Bell Work

Lewis and Clark Journal Entries Mini Project (due: ________________)

Review: The Louisiana Purchase was purchased in 1803 for $15 million from France The size of the U.S. was doubled. Jefferson gave directions to Lewis and Clark to try and find an all water route across the continent! They also were to explore the area and map it out.

Lewis and Clark Journals Directions
You are going to use several resources (online simulations) to discover what it was like for Lewis and Clark during their expedition. You are going to create 10 journal entries (in chronological order in history), documenting Lewis and Clarks’ experiences. Each journal entry should describe be 3-4 sentences long, and should describe a significant experience (obstacles and goals) during their expedition. You may talk about more than one experience in each journal entry if you choose. You want your entries to expand over the entire two years of the expedition, Don’t create journal entries for only the first ½ of the expedition. (worth 30 points) (VERY IMPORTANT) – You many not copy word for word from the websites. You need to paraphrase what you read and put it in your own words. Each journal entry should include an picture that illustrates what you are describing in your sentences. Your pictures may be hand drawn or printed off. Please include color with each picture - excluding black and grey . (worth 5 points) Your map and video sheet should be included with your journals (as the last two page). (worth 5 points for video sheet and 5 points for map) Create a title page for your journal that uses the entire space and includes a colorful picture. May be printed off or hand drawn. (worth 5 points) Total Point Value: + ____/50

These are ideas of words/phrases you could use to help write your journals. Just keep these words in mind as you go through your resources (while reading). You do NOT HAVE to include ALL of these words in your journal entries.

Resources – These are simulations (Feel free to write your journal entries as you go along with the simulation.) I personally, think this site gives the most information and is the most thorough.

This site doesn’t have as much information as the previous two, but it’s still good.
