Parent Night Fall 2017 3rd grade

Welcome to 3rd Grade! We are thrilled to have your child in our class this year! We know this year is going to be fantastic! This presentation is just to give you a few helpful hints about some of our procedures and routines we will be following throughout this school year. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to / text on remind /call us.

Parent-Teacher Communication
Due to a limited amount of copies per teacher allowed, we will be doing everything electronically. It is very important that your child’s teacher has your Current and correct address, as this will be our main source of instant communication. We all check our s regularly and it comes straight to our phones so please don’t hesitate to contact us!! Other items will be posted on our website. It is important that you check the site weekly for updates or for useful information! If you have not signed up for REMIND please contact your child’s teacher for Code.

Grading You can access your student’s grades online with Power School/Parent Portal. The log-in/sign up is on the mustangps.org website. You will need to get the log-in code from the office. We will update grades every week. Every grade is weighed the same, making them all equally important!

Home Links / Reading Home Links are a part of MPS Every Day Math curriculum. Home Links will be put in your child’s Take Home Binder. The students will be doing a home link every day of the week except for Fridays (weeks permitting). Homework will be a participation grade!!!

Other Homework Weekly Spelling Lists will be put on our Newsletters and written in their agendas. We will have all test for ELA, Spelling and Math on Fridays. Please make sure your student is present, or they will have 6 test to take the following week. Reading 20 minutes a night is required.

Students will bring their homework home in their binder DAILY.
Take Home HORSE Binder Students will bring their homework home in their binder DAILY. Please review it with them when they are done. Homework needs to be returned the following day. If you send money with your child please have it in an envelope or baggie and label what it is for.

Thursday Folder Will have graded papers and extra pages from the district, town events, and activities. The items on the left can be left at home. The items on the right need to be brought back to school.

Encourage your student to be their… Bronco Best!!

Snack Students will be given about a 10 minute working daily snack time. Each child will be responsible for bringing their own snack. Please send healthy snacks like: Goldfish, Cheez-its, fruit or pretzels. (Sweets and candy are only permitted on special occasions.) Students may bring a water bottle labeled with their name. Water is the only beverage allowed in the classroom. Friday snacks- PTSO will be selling snacks on Friday’s they have fruit snacks and popcorn for $1.00. Or you can wear a hat for $1.00 donation.

Birthdays You may send a birthday snack such as cupcakes or cookies for your child’s birthday (it has to be store bought.) These will be passed out at lunch, or the end of the day. Teacher's discretion. Please do not send invitations to school. We are not allowed to hand them out, per district policy.

Please specials teachers regarding any questions.

Library Have a question regarding the library or media?

Lunch Feel free to join your child for lunch! (please check in with the office and someone will walk you over.) You may only eat with your child. 3rd grade eats at 12:20-12:45.

Tardiness School doors open at 7:15 (Your child will not be supervised if dropped off beforehand.) Bell rings at 7:30 Tardy bell rings at 7:40 Please remember to call the office when your child is absent so it is verified. Also call if your child attends daycare after school and they are going to be absent.

Bronco Bash Bronco Bash is at 7:30 in the new gym every Friday.
We will send home a note with your child, and we will use Remind 101 to let you know if your child will be receiving an award.
