Its membership is currently growing at the rate of about 7,00,000 people a day 70% of facebook’s users live outside USA 2 million websites integrated with Facebook Facebook has a richer, more intimate hoard of information about its citizens than any nation. Facebook rates as the Web's top photo-sharing site, and is the fourth most-visited site in the world, accounting for more than 1 percent of all internet use.

Born in 1984 in NY Zuckerberg grew up in a supportive household with 3 siblings When he was 12, he created a network (Zuck Net) for the family home Wrote computer games in middle school Co-wrote a music recommendation program called Synapse in high school Attended Harvard Business School where he started a web service ‘Thefacebook.com’ to connect people through social networks at college

6 Modus operandi of Facebook
Facebook moves into a market (eg: photosharing, games) and takes it over by making it social. The only major source of revenue is advertising. Facebook is used by organizations for targeted marketing.

7 Advantages Allows users to track down long lost friends, acquaintances and relatives that they haven't seen for years. “Stretches people and gets them to be comfortable with things they aren't yet comfortable with”. A lot of this is just social norms catching up with what technology is capable of. Even if Facebook seems so informal in the eyes of non-professionals, it has proven to be very advantageous in tracking down legal disputes.

8 Advantages Provides the chance to choose what you desire to share, and what you don’t need to  impart, and what you desire to impart with chosen associates. A one-stop shop or supermarket for imparting blogging, media, calendaring, communicating, sharing ideas or information and others.

9 Disadvantages Banned in certain countries by governments who fear misuse of Facebook’s vast database. Privacy issues. Facebook addiction could become an actual diagnosable ailment. Facebook is a blunt instrument for doing the delicate work of transmitting human relationships. Facebook has been cited as the primary source for online divorce evidence. Rampant addiction Possible stalking

10 An entrepreneur does not see different things, but sees things differently.
Many people looked at the internet and saw it as a network of computers. Zuckerberg, however, saw the internet as a network of people.
