Moodle WHAT? WHO? WHERE? HOW? WHY? WHAT ELSE?

WHAT is Moodle? Moodle is a Learning Management System (LMS) An online software program that provides an organized and structured way to create and offer training and professional development programs.

WHY Moodle (Online Learning)?
Online Learning positions the State of New Hampshire for the 21st Century A centralized and sustainable training platform to enhance and support the state’s mission “to build a stronger and more innovative New Hampshire.”

“…to reposition state government for the 21st century” with “financial efficiency, customer service, best practices for internal business, and employee development and growth,” (report from Innovation Commission).

WHY Moodle (Online Learning)?
Transform training models for NH employees to deliver exceptional services to our internal and external customers based on best practices of training and education. Moodle provides a solution and a tool to support innovation in the delivery of training and education for State of NH Employees and external customers such as municipalities, counties, school districts, etc.

Saves time, reduces travel expenses and lost hours in commuting Responds to the current needs for information and easily update programs to and adjust to changing demands for information, changes in regulations and best practices Supports multi-agency collaboration Frees up instructors and content experts to develop new and expanded programs

WHY Moodle (Online Learning)?
Increases learning flexibility; instruction/training is primarily self-paced and can be scheduled at a time that is convenient for the learner. It also allows for interruptions; the learner can stop and re-start sessions if necessary. Reduces redundancy and duplication of effort and deliver consistent program content Increases learning opportunities and Reduces risk and improves safety! And it’s Green!

HOW can I access Moodle? You use your NH First user name and password to access all instances of Moodle. Moodle trainings will be provided on a regular basis as soon as Moodle Internal is “live” (anticipated July 2016). Information about Moodle availability and trainings will be forthcoming from BET. Look for an from your administrator and/or HR contact coming soon!
