Copper Rock Fish Bocaccio Sebastes caurinus
Are almost exclusively found in kelp beds and shallow rocky areas. Juveniles feed on plankton and crustaceans. Adults feed on crustaceans, small fish and mollusks. Have venomous glands on fin spines, painful to humans but not deadly. Bocaccio Sebastes paucispinus Can live up to 45 years and grow to about 3 feet. Can be found from Alaska to Baja, California, but majority are in Oregon. One female can produce over 2 million eggs in one breeding season. Feed on shrimp, crab, anchovies, sardines, other smaller rockfish and squid.
