2 Vocabulary Delta: a triangle shaped area of land made of soil deposited by a river Pharaoh: the title used by the rulers of Egypt Dynasties: a series of rulers from the same families Nobles: people from rich or powerful people Afterlife: life after death Mummies: special treated bodies wrapped in cloth Pyramids: huge stone tombs with 4 triangle shapes walls that meet at a point on the top Middle Kingdom: the period of order and stability that lasted until about 1750 B.C.E New Kingdom: the period during which Egypt reached the height of its power and glory Trade Routes: paths followed by traders Hieroglyphics: Egyptian writing system Rosetta Stone: a stone slab inscribed with hieroglyphics Sphinxes: imaginary creatures with the bodies of lions and the heads of other animals or humans

3 geography Ancient Egypt’s geography consist of deltas and rivers. The main river is known as the Nile river. The Nile flows north. It ends in the Mediterranean Sea. It is the longest river in the world. The Nile River is 4,160 miles long. Ancient Egypt also has many deltas. Deltas are areas of land made of deposited soil that are in a triangle shape.

4 leaders/important people
The highest part of the cast system is made up of leaders and important people. These people are known as Pharaohs. Pharaohs are rich and powerful people. They are the rulers in Egypt. A family of rulers is known as a Dynasty. This is when the throne gets passed down from generations. If you were born into the family and/or your parents were rulers there is a high chance you are next in line.

5 contribution of civilization
One of their biggest achievements were the mummification process. This is when they is when they take the dead body and wrap them in cloth. They preserve the bodies and keep them in decorated coffins. They also invented surgery. Greece and Rome based many of there medical knowledge on that of the Egyptians.

6 conflict Ancient Egypt was fighting Nubians. They were conquered by Hittites The also suffered crop failure. Many pyramid started to fall. Eventually the whole kingdom collapsed due to civil disorder and high death rate.
