Four quadrants of a quality to cost relationship.
Four quadrants of a quality to cost relationship. Quadrant D represents ultimate value based on higher quality at reduced cost but is unlikely to be achieved by most new technology. Quadrant A is unacceptably poor value because of reduced quality at higher cost. Quadrants B and C are possible areas for a value-based hypothesis with constraints of acceptable cost thresholds for increasing quality (hatched area B) and acceptable quality reduction for proportionate cost savings (hatched area C).
