Plastic Water Bottles BY: JADE FISHER
2
Creation First, the oil is extracted from the earth
Then the oil is cleaned at the refinery
3
Process Then the oil is cleaned at the refinery
At a plastics factory the oil is transformed into plastic pellets then bottle pre-forms.
4
Manufacturing The pre-forms are heated and shaped into bottles.
The bottles are brought to the bottling plant where they are filled with water.
5
Consumer The bottles are ready for you so they are transported to the store. You purchase the bottle of water and bring it to your house.
6
Use People Drink the water from the bottle
Sometimes the bottles are reused but usually they are not.
7
Recycle Putting the water bottles in the recycling
Local trucks pick up the recycling and bring it to a plant Here it is separated and pulverized into smaller plastic pieces Then they are cleaned and melted down, then they can be shaped into other products such as carpets
8
Garbage (Wasted) If the bottles are thrown into a garbage can they will be picked up by the local garbage disposal company Then they are brought to a dump (landfill) It takes about 1000 years for a water bottle to decompose These landfills are sometimes turned into ski hills but usually they are just left there doing nothing
