Nuclear Arms - Each branch of the Armed Services wanted control of nuclear weapons. - Each branch developed its own unique system of delivery: Air Force: B-52 Bombers (B1 Bombers / Stealth Bombers - air launch / delivery) Navy: Polaris System (submarine / sea launch) Army: Hercules (land-based launch sys.) Nuclear Command Centers - With the Pentagon being the primary target of enemies, other command centers were built - Raven Rock (MD near Camp David) built in the 1950’s to deal with surprise nuclear attack. - NORAD - built into Cheyenne Mtn.... located in Colorado Springs, CO. - Looking Glass - a fleet of 707 planes that fly 24 / 7, to serve as a flying command post * Minute Man system - missile silos located in the upper Midwest (WY, SD, ND, MT, CO) can launch nuclear weapons within minutes of notification.

Show off TrishY!!!! We had to ride our bikes home from Meadowbrook Elementary School to see if we could make it to our own BOMB SHELTER OR if we would have to stay at the school’s Bomb shelter which was the GYM. The kids who rode slowly home were to be kept at school.
