Bombing of Pearl Harbor
On December 7, 1941, the Japanese launched a surprise attack on the US Military in Hawaii. Eight U.S. Navy battleships were damaged, four sunk. The Japanese also sank or damaged several other ships. 188 U.S. aircraft were destroyed; 2,403 Americans were killed and 1,178 others were wounded. This tragedy was the turning point for the United States deciding to join forces with their allies and enter WWII. Four years later, the War ended.
