5 Natural Resources Earthly: Italy has few natural resources. There are no substantial deposits of iron, coal, or oil. Proven natural gas reserves, mainly in the Po Valley and offshore Adriatic, have grown in recent years and constitute the country’s most important mineral resource. But the resources that Italy does have are coal, mercury, zinc, potash, marble, barite, asbestos, pumice, fluorspar, feldspar, pyrite (sulfur), natural gas and crude oil reserves, fish, and arable land.

8 When did italy for as a country or gain independence?
Foreigners continued to dominate in the 1500’s. France and Spain engaged in an unending war for control. Spain won and heavily taxed the Italians. The economy deteriorated. Laws began to favor the North elite and oppress the masses. The Italian initiative did not exist due to taxing by the ruler, landowner, and the overseer. Finally about 346 years later italy was finally a whole country. They officially gained dependence on March 17, 1861.
